Webroot detected 93.1% of my test files and either removed them or placed them into quarantine. To test Webroot’s malware scanner, I downloaded and hid 1,000 test files all over my device, including trojans, spyware, keylogging malware, and rootkits. You can also scan individual folders/files and schedule any of these scans to happen daily, weekly, or on bootup. For example, you can run a Deep Scan (scans for rootkits and other advanced threats), Full Scan (scans all of your local hard drives), or Quick Scan (only scans high-risk areas of a device). Since it’s cloud-based, it doesn’t use much CPU and disk space while performing a scan. Webroot uses a cloud-based malware directory and heuristic analysis to detect threats on your machine. Webroot Security Features Antivirus Scanner Webroot offers several payment plans that cover either 1, 3, or 5 Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS devices - and all of Webroot’s plans have a 70-day money-back guarantee, which is more generous than any other brand on the market. Overall Webroot lacks some additional features, but it’s still a decent antivirus with a minimal impact on system performance. Webroot also lacks useful features like parental controls, and its VPN is only available as a separate purchase. But the web protection, identity protection, and system optimizer aren’t as good as similar protections from the best antiviruses on the market. The LastPass password manager that comes with Webroot is great - in fact it’s one of the best password managers on the market. Webroot also includes the following additional features: In my testing, the antivirus scanner caught 93.1% of the malware samples I hid on my device - while this is a good result, competitors like Norton and Bitdefender all scored 100% malware detection rates in my testing. It’s useless though, if this feature prevents Chrome from functioning.Webroot is a lightweight cloud-based antivirus program with a good malware scanner, an excellent password manager, and some other decent extra features. Disappointing, as I’d like to keep Chrome protected. It seems a shame, as this feature had been working for quite a while in “protect” mode, but apparently has a hairball today if I don’t explicitly allow the exe in the Chrome\Application directory. I changed this one setting to “allow” and Chrome immediately started working normally again. So.I searched, found this thread and lit up, as I’ve been WebRoot user for several years and thought this might be an answer. I canceled all Chrome processes, including the crash handler. I checked Task Manager, and sure enough each time I tried, another process would be spawned, but no visible would open. Today it opened a few times then refused to. Yesterday, and for the last several weeks, Chrome has opened with no problem. SO glad I found this thread (thanks, Google!). It seems this issue has come up once again. Update came out it blocked Chrome on the first box but tried to install theįiltering extension on the second box. The first box, but not on the second, and when the webroot secureanywhere I'm guessing that the Webroot Filtering Extension was already installed on On the other windows 7 box, when I started Chrome I got the messageĪsking if I wanted to install the Webroot Filtering Extension. Which I suspect is related to me trying to reinstall Chrome. It was also "Deny" on setup.exe in c:usersxxxappdatalocaltempcr_53580.tmp In my case, besides two (slightly different) chrome.dll files and the chrome_child.dll, Need to do a full Windows 7 reinstall to clean up the machine. I tried removing it and reinstalling a few times but it just never came up. On one of my windows 7 boxes last night, Chrome just stopped working. I have not installed a new Chrome for many months. Just pushed out sometime between Saturday (Feb 1, 2014) and Monday night. The problem is not related to a new version of Chrome, it is something Webroot OpenText NetIQ Advanced Authentication Tips & Info 0.OpenText NetIQ Access Manager User Discussions 0.OpenText NetIQ Self Service Password Reset 0.OpenText NetIQ Advanced Authentication Discussions 0.OpenText NetIQ Access Manager Developer Discussions 0.NetIQ Access Manager Portfolio Tips & Info 0.Webroot® Legacy Products (2011 and Prior) 33.Webroot® SecureAnywhere™ - Antivirus for PC Gamers 553.Webroot® Security Awareness Training 57.Webroot® Business Endpoint Protection 1133.Webroot Mobile Security for Android 939.Webroot® Consumer/Business - for Macs 371.Webroot® SecureAnywhere™ - Complete 3829.Webroot® SecureAnywhere™ - Internet Security Plus 2469.Webroot® SecureAnywhere™ - Antivirus 6976. ![]()
